About UDA

The Universal Design Alliance Inc. (UDA) is a non-profit corporation founded in March 2003. Our mission is to create awareness and expand the public's knowledge of universal design,which is design for all ages, sizes, and abilities.

Our membership has made numerous presentations to conferences, organizations, and individual groups to promote Universal Design. We also have developed 5 CEU courses to become qualified providers for ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association).

Goals of Universal Design Alliance

1. Become a resource for universal design knowledge.
2. Promote the Easy Living^cm Home concept.
3. Promote universal design features to both design/build industry members and consumers.
4. Promote universal design through educational programs and seminars.
5. Partner with other design/build entities to design, build, furnish, staff, and promote a universal design show house.
6. Develop membership and participation.

History Highlights

Projects under Development

• Developing CEU courses for Realtor Accreditation.
• Working with the Atlanta Housing Authority initiative to create housing opportunities for people with disabilities.

2007

• Partnered with ASID National to present "Home For All Ages Conference" in Atlanta, San Diego and in Minneapolis.
• Presented CEU courses at 2007 Interiors for ASID.
• Partnered in Spring and Fall of 2007 with the CenterFor Disease Control (CDC) to develop a "Fall and InjuryPrevention" Exhibit at the Atlanta Home Show.

2006

• Received Metropolitan Partnership in Aging Award for the 2006 Show House from the Atlanta Regional Commission (other recipeints included: Delta Air Lines and the Ritz Carlton Hotel).
• Created and produced 2006 Livable Lifetime Show House with 15 rooms designed by UDA and ASID members.
• Presented at 2006 AARP National Member Events.
• Presented CEU courses at 2006 Interiors for ASID.

2005

• Presented CEU courses at 2005 Interiors for ASID.

2003

• Received two grants from the Andrus Foundation of the University of Southern California and AARP for developing this UDA organization.
